School visits

I am very keen to work with schools and always enjoy visiting schools and working with pupils. I offer online and in person workshops and have designed an interactive workshop for each of my stories.

Cuthbert Goes On and On Workshop: focuses on the infinite nature of the number line. Beginning with a purpose written story followed by a question-and-answer session and then an arty maths activity to reinforce learning. This workshop will help children to understand that the number line is infinite and will reinforce their understanding of the decimal system: tens, hundreds, thousands etc..

Cuthbert Switches Things Around Workshop: focuses on the commutative nature of addition. Beginning with a purpose written story followed by a question-and-answer session and then an arty maths activity to reinforce learning. This workshop will help children to understand the commutative nature of addition, i.e., 3+6 = 6+3.

Cuthbert Sees Double Workshop: focuses on the doubling. Beginning with a purpose written story followed by a question-and-answer session and then an arty maths activity to reinforce learning. This workshop will help children to see that doubling a number is the same as adding the number to itself.

Each workshop last for approximately 1 hour and involves reading the story, dicussion of what we have learnt, a short game or activity to reinforce learning and an Art activity to illustrate learning.

I have run these workshops with a number of schools and have had very positive feedback:

"It was great to have a story that teaches a maths concept in an engaging way and the children really enjoyed the code breaker activity."
